Hello Fellow Sixers,
I am wondering if anyone has any advice? My wife is only 5ft 2 and she cannot reach to depress the clutch. We have only had the 65 a couple of weeks now. Is there a seat rail mod or can you buy aftermarket pedals that will bring them closer? Thanks for your help. [/img]

When my grandma (who was really small, too) couldn't clutch her Dodge Coronet, the dealer installed a rubber block on the clutch pedal that made it almost 2" closer to her. That worked real well.

However, I don't know where you can get these blocks.

My dad and I used to screw wooden blocks to the pedals for my mom. She was just barely 5' tall and had to use a pillow to get up high enough to see over the wheel of most cars.

Do what I did, install seats from an '80 Mustang, and mount forward on the tracks. The seats are fuller, and the 66 tracks put them further forward.

Believe it or not, Ford made some pedals for this application...

I have seen it done this way, Go to local junkyard and get an extra set of pedals. doesn't really matter what they are out of. sut off the steel pad at the bottom of the pedals take a nice strong piece of oak or walnut to space it out the right distance. and bolt them to the factory pedals and put the pads the extended pads. Just remembe to use good quality bolts and do a good job. (You don't want somthing loose around the brake pedal)

When I started dateing the girl who became my 1st wife she was too short at five foot one to depress the clutch on my 54 Chevy so I had an extention welded in to the clutch wear it came thru the floor. On the 60 Falcon we made a plate thet bolted to the peddal and had a copy of the peddal pad on it. Now we have cars where the peddals are so close because they are built for short guys thet live on rice.

Great-Grandma stood roughly 5' and drove a 4-door '67 Impala from the day she bought it up to 1996 when she turned 100. It always had a piece of 2x4 on the gas pedal and was still there when I took the car and drove it for a while. It had a 250 I6 w/ the 2-speed tranny and Rotten-Chester 1bbl. Grammy only knew 2 ways to drive, gas pedal on the floor and brake pedal on the floor. It's no wonder she never killed anybody

That car could fit 11 comfortably. 4 in the front, 4 in the back and 3 in the truck (don't ask me how I know  ). You couldn't reach the air cleaner unless you were either on a step ladder, or sitting on the radiator or fender leaning forward.
