smog head?

The '62 ranchero I bought had a '61 170 (C1DE 6015 A) in it with this head on it and a rebuilders tag on the rear of the block reading B 100 886, so maybe it was rebuilt in 1986?

Running the numbers on the different charts it comes up as a 66 200 head, I think. My question is, when did they start running smog equipment on the 200s?

This head has a number of C6DE 6090 B. The 6 that comes after the C looks like it might be an 8, the casting is kinda messed up right there in that spot, so maybe it's a '68 head. The head also has little boss's cast into it along each intake runner just below the valve cover surface. These are capped off with a llittle allen plug.

It also has 1 3/8 exhaust and 1 5/8 intake valves and a 1 1/2 opening on the carb flange.

We put a later 200 in the car but were wondering if this head was worth hanging on to?

I was just curious as to what we had.
Thanks.

in CA, there were 'smog' heads built in '66. They had air injection ports going into the exhaust ports of the head. These can be reworked to eliminate much of the 'bump' that is present.
