The other day I was at a swap meet and was looking for carbs that I thought would work well for a multi carb setup on my 200. I found a solex 30 I know nothing about them and was wondering if they would work well or if they have some issues? I'm looking for a down draft carb thats small enough that I could mount six on the log.

Yes it is a down draft, one barrel, and it looked like it was more about 22mm.

That's a cool idea, six Solexes. Probably available at the boneyard from six clapped out Renaults or Fiats.
I was thinking of using an Offenhauser and a medly of all three standard 1bbl carbs or 3 glass fuel well carbs or something. Still pondering it.

If you look at all the interesting milled stuff on this site you can see a lot of guys shaving the log and planting an aluminum plate on the top. Was that your plan? Something like a row of Solexes with a progressive linkage?

Cool.

On one of the strings, the guy milled off the top of his log so it was all flat. Then make a home fabbed gasket and, what? - 1/4" aluminum stock with U-bolts under the log, similar to Offenhauser.

A couple of months ago in Hot Rod magazine there was a photo story of a guy who made up an aluminum plenum box for six injectors that looked like classic Stombergs. I was thinking of something like that, although the idea of six little stalks sticking up all in a row .... sweet.
