So I was doing some reading and I found a couple of nifty pictures these are out of How to build hot rods & race them by John Christy from back in the 60's. None of these photos are mine

Not surprised that the 144cid (156cid - 0.125 overbore) will turn 8000rpm. The rod stroke ratio is 1.942:1, better than the 200s 1.508:1.

Thats the pump for the fuel injection

australian speed boat from the 60's- class is 155ci (think it was based on the American 155ci class (2.5litres?))

anyways this is a 144ci bored out to class limit (155ci) log cut off the head and stubs with trumpets welded on -and mech fuel injection (hilborn?):

this was taken in sydney sept 2010 at the all ford day - and towed in by a 1965/66 XP falcon coupe- nice!
can just see the pulley for the fuel injection pump in the first photo (partly hidden by exhaust pipes)

GB500 I dont believe it talks too much about the six, most of the pictures are examples of the general topic thats being covered. I left the book at work so I'll try to find out if there is anymore info. Were you interested in a particular photo or setup?

gb500 - even tho yer pic shows an OZ ford there wuz NOT much divergence @ that point between the 2 companies (one co. actually). LOTs of differences today between the 2 (motor/body style)!

ford auatralia just took the usa log engine exactly as used in the USa.and manufactured here. ie the 1960 to 65 ford falcons used the 144 and 170 4 bearings - nad a few inported 200ci engines.4 main bearings

this boat /class is from about 1962 odd so yes the 144 was exactly the same


they started local manufacture of the 200ci and 170 ci 7 bearings in 1966- i guess taken direct from the usa ones

by 1968 ford australia was manufactuiring the 188ci and 221 ci log engines .
all still similiar to the usa engines.

by 1971 ford was doing the 200ci and 250 ci log head engines - tall block engines utilising the same block (diff stroke crank and rods from 200 to the 250ci)
it was these engines that had the 2v heads


and then 1976(ithink ) the crossflow head and slightly different block

thanks plain jane - nothing in particul;ar - just if they talked about building those angines in anymore detail=- or if anymore photos .

i think they look like the similiar ones used in the Hot rod magazine in 1960 (not sure what months).

musta been when the blokes on our side began importin the head for the track mods here.
8^ } Hafta look in mjy records but I think they used yer head (was it the XY?) on ours. IIRC any '69 250ci here till '76, took that 1st OZ x-flow head. Too bad they're all goin to the crusher there. Guys on this forum would love to do a pallet full of em (we call it a 'mass buy'). 8)

Some 1 down there wanted to ship me one but we couldn't figure which would fit my ''69 or '75 4.1L and he didn't wanna research shippin costs. "I got as many as U want", he said...
