my headers should be here soon so im going to get everything else i need done adn i have a few questions. 94k on it and it has not been rebuilt, but the head is off and im getting it milled. what should the spark plug gap be? (load a matic w/ msd blaster 2) what are some good spark plugs to use? the motor has been dry since march should i prime the oil pump, like i would on a newly rebuilt motor? best way to torque down the head bolts?(ive heard a few different methods, like torquing it some then letting it sit over night and torqing it the rest of the way) anything i should look out for that i forgot?

Try a 45 thou gap on the plugs. I'm not fussed on the brand, having had equally good results with NGK, Bosch and Autolite in various situations. It won't hurt to prime the oiling system, but assembly lube on the lifter bases, pushrods and rocker/valve tips should suffice.

Yes, where possible, leave the final torquing four hours or more. There may be just enough "relaxing" of the head due to gasket crush, for the bolts to tighen a few thou harder.

Load o with points? No petronix or MSD 6 box? Over 35 with points gets a bit funky (because of the voltage drop from the ballast resistor) and is hard on the points. If there is some form of electronic then 45 is a good starting point and maybe more depending on compression and such. The points are the limiting factor.

yeah its points, i will be getting a ds2 soon, when i get a 2bbl carb. ill start at 35 and go up if i can.
