Starter motor conversion

I have a 1973 TC Cortina with a 250 pre crossflow and I think the starter may need replacing. The one on there is original and I think the teeth arent properly disengaging because there is an unusual (whining) noise from behind the motor. We checked out the spigot bearing (custom for a Toyota 5 speed) and the gearbox/clutch/throwout bearing etc but it does not appear to be coming from there. I have been told that later model starters ie EF-AU Falcon will fit and was hoping to confirm this before I go and get one. The Bosch catalog doesn't list the TC Cortina, but it lists the same starter from XP to AU Falcon. Would I be right in assuming that the later model starter will fit?

Hey Brett.Yeah the starters will fit. They make one to fit all models. Bout $80 new from sprints.
The falcon solanoid is at a different angle to the starter then the corty ones are.
Corty solanoid sits straight up falcon ones bout 80degrees to the drivers side which is great for extractor clearance.

Got my car on the road. Motors done 500k already im starting to push it a little now. Pulls hard from low and in top pulls from 80 miles to 110 pretty easy. to infintity and beyond
Cant wait for AIR to open up
