I need some advice. I currently have an Autolite/Motorcraft 2100 adapted to my '77 200 log. The problem I'm having is with linkage. Right now it sticks alot. I've been considering buying a carburetor from Stovebolt but didn't know if the linkage from that carburetor is any different than one from a Motorcraft 2100.

The adapter I'm using is either from Clifford or a good copy (has model number stamp like Clifford 1640 - thanks again Slade).

Any ideas? I put back on my YF for the time being until I can work out this 2BBL adaptation problem.

To me the difference between the YF and 2100 is how the throttle shaft is opened. The YF is opened my pushing the throttle shaft mechanism and the 2100 appears to be the opposite.

Ideas, suggestions?

HI STANG200,

I SEE YOU HAVE A 66 CAR. IS THE CAR STILL EQUIPPED WITH THE ORIGINAL THROTTLE LINKAGE (BAR RUNNING HORIZONTAL TO THE INTAKE MANIFOLD)?? THE DIRECTION OF ROTATION OF THE THROTTLE ARM SHOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE. BUT YOU MAY NEED TO FIND, OR MAKE, A CARB THROTTLE ARM THAT WILL ROTATE THE THROTTLE SHAFT IN THE CORRECT DIRECTION FOR THE MOVEMENT OF THE THROTTLE ARM IN THE CAR. SEE MUSTANG GEEZER'S SITE FOR SOME GOOD PIC'S OF THE INSTALLATION OF A 2300, WHICH HAS THE SAME LINKAGE ROTATION AS THE 2100. AS A SIDE NOTE, THE 5200 HAS THE SAME ISSUE. THE CARB THROTTLE ARM WILL NEED TO BE MODIFIED TO ROTATE THE CARB THROTTLE SHAFT IN THE CORRECT DIRECTION. NOT DIFFICULT, JUST THOUGHT PROVOKING.

ENJOY THE TRIP - STEVE

Hmmmm...I see your point. What about converting to a throttle cable setup?

You can go the route I have gone and pull everything from a 78 Fairmont... get the pedal, cable, hardware, intake bracket etc...

The setup is fairly straightforward, I got the idea from Mustangaroo... search 78 Fairmont here or cable throttle and you will pull up some of the old posts on the subject.

That pulls the linkage from the bottom to the drivers side....
