The threads pulled right out, talk about someone being pissed :bang: .
After all these modifications I did for blow-thru on this holley, almost a years worth.

The thread is a 12-24, do you think there is enough meat to insert a heli-coil? If not, how close is the 1/4-20 thread compare to 12-24?

The 1/4-20 bolt might be too big to go thru the float bowl and/or metering block. I have not tried it yet, just venting here some.

Any suggestion are welcome, thanks.

Its a common prblem , easy to fix , done it many times

If you don't mind me asking, was your fix going to the larger 1/4-20 thread or heli-coil, or will either suffice? Thanks.

I've used heli-coils several times on carbs with success. Just take it slow when you drill. I like using them as the pot metal used in carbs is rather soft & by installing a heli-coil I can preserve the carb. NAPA & Autozone both have nice kits that come with everything that you need.

Actually the heli-coil was too big for the float bowl threads. The insert is the same size as a 5/16" thread and would not leave enough material around the site. Ended up tapping the threads to a 1/4-20 and used a 2 1/2" allen-headed bolt w/ an o-ring. All is well and no leaks so far.
