Well...fired up the Aussie today...open headers...was freaking wild when you let the engine wind up...I"ll post some video and audio of idle

Here is a problem I'm having. My idle is surging anytime I get the idle speed close to normal. As of right now, I haven't really trouble shot much...and I'm tired and can't think of where to begin now. I'm taking it up the exhaust shop tomorrow...after that, I'll attempt trouble shooting and tuning with a vacuum gauge...

I'm also running a little on the warm side...but I'll need to double check my coolant level since I had to drain it...hopefully it burbed.

Hey man that looks alot like mine, lol. I though mine was running a little hot also but it worked its self out after i got the tune-up right. Open headers are nice sound! I know when i dyno'ed mine i took my little Triangle air filter off, and i gained 5 hp at 17 ft lbs of torque on my second hot run. That thing is restrictive. It looks good! keep up the work and post pics/video/auido!

Looks great Slade!!!

Also looks like Harrie's brace just cleared the rt side of the carby!

Yeah...they barely clear...but my old braces definitely would have had issues. It's tight...but no issues at all.

I took it out and had some fun with the open headers...was fun with the ricers. Also, I really like my new suspension set up.

Mate if it's close, use a turnbuckle setup or similar as a torque strap / motion limiter on the left side. Risk it might start tapping on hard acceleration.

Otherwise - good job! Just put turndowns on those headers.

Wow, no matter how many pictures I see of this head I never get tired of it. Thanks for the sound bite.

As far as the way it’s running, make sure you’re not lean. Surging and high temps suggest a lean condition.

Very nice ride, Ric.

cant wait to see the video of the beast on the freeway, when you give it some under load.. sounds awesome at idle, like its just begging you to give it some :D

If the idle wasn't so loud...I wouldn't mind keeping the open headers...sounds wicked when you get the engine above 2500 RPMs under acceleration. Had lots of fun yesterady, and again today on the way to the shop.

Looks and sounds great. Will you dyno to see exactly how much power you're gaining?

Slade, It looks great. On my setup using the Holley 2300/electric choke the carb just cleared the shock tower. I had to loosen the motor mounts and shove the engine towards the driver's side.

Once you put on the exhaust it will run alot smoother. It sounds good with open headers but will run better with an exhaust. (At least that's how mine was.)

My setup also runs a little on the hot side. I am still messing with it after 1 year.
