Hey, i was wondering if you guys know how much a 1964 Mercurey Comet(4 door, 200six) is worth? What would poor, fair, excellent, and mint all be worth? My dad says in mint condition 1,500. I dont believe him.

Thanks,

Curtis

I would guess 500 bucks...cause up here in canada i think they go for 1200 bucks in good shape...mint could probably go anywhere up to 2,000 though...depending on the buyer and the options (cd player...etc...)

a 2 door always sells for more $$

There is a extremely nice one about an hour from here for 2250. 4 doors are tough to sell but are functional.

sadly he is probably right. Most people looking for a 4 door want one that is stock with a blown motor (me) that way we can stick a big block in it...... SLEEPER.

Curtis,
I recently bought a one owner 1964 I6(200) 4 door with about 70K miles on it plus a donor vehicle, less motor and trans, for $350. Clean title.
However the fellow I bought it from has also sold me other vehicles in that price range so we kinda have a 'working' relation.
I got a Ford 9" LS 4.10 rear end for $75(real good deal I think!) from this same person.
I think the basic price here in the Ky, southern IN and IL area is about $500.
If it needs any work at all, the time and cost mount up very quickly.
If you don't mind writing expenses off as entertainment, then you won't have as much a problem with cost justification.
I set a price I feel a car in good condition would be worth.
Then as I go over the available car, subtract from that value the cost of needed parts, tools and time.
What you have left should approximate the as is value of what you are appraising.
Don't know if these wanderings help or not.
Thanks.

coudn't you run it through like kellyblue book or somethin' .. i think i remmeber a while back doing that for my grandpa .. im pretty sure it was online too? ...

hmm so according to that site Slade gave...when i finish my monarch i should be able to get at least 5,000 bucks  thats good...cause thats what i was hoping at least to get as i wont have lost too much on it then. I wonder how accurate it is though. I plan on getting the car appraised though when its done (new carpeting and suspension are the big things...and of coarse hopping up the engine.)

I'm pretty sure most of us on this forum think of our vehicles as priceless...which is good. Although They probably hate them when they dont work right...but once that problem is solved they love their car just that much more...Thats the way i am anyways. I dont want to sell my car and i probably wont, but if the price is right, then i will sell it and start over, because i would rather have a vehicle i can keep working on and enjoying it every step of the way rather than have a perfect vehicle that cant have anything done to it.
