Throttle problems

Hello,

Like I have mentioned before, since I installed my Tri-power set up, I have had extensive problems getting the stock "accelerator bar" to cooperate with the progressive linkage.
I would like to bypass the stock set up and run a cable set up in its place.
I purchased this pedal in the hopes I can get it to work for my falcon-

I might be able to help.
If your "accelerator bar" is the same as what I have. I came up with a solution that worked for me.
I took a 1/4" round steel rod and heated a bent it in a shape that went from the tripower linkage back to the accelerator bar. I was all trial and error but it works. If you heat up the bar red hot it bends pretty easy. If you don't heat it red hot it will just break at a tight bend. I then just cut threads on each end to attach it on both ends. Here are two pics of what I came up with.

If you think yours is similar to mine and think it might work for you I would be happy to take mine off and try to make a copy for you. You probably will have to tweak it some but it would give you something to start with.

Thanks Gene,
I had tried something similar, the problem I am having is that the stock accelerator bar doesn't pull the carbs to WOT, I have tried and tweaked many different configurations but found that I was just unable to make it work with the stock set-up. Also, the rear carb is binding up with the accelerator bar and gets stuck open, its been a real trying project :bang: . I hoping a cable set-up will fix these problems I am having. Thanks for your help & Wish me luck!

Wow. I was thinking about tri-carb several years ago. This thread has been real helpful to focus my thinking. Now it goes like this: Q-jet.

Edit in: Hmm. Maybe 750 cfm is a little large.

Thanks Brian

I’m pretty sure the main arm needed a little tweaking also. Isn’t that what torches, vise grips and hammers are for. Good luck with yours. I was there and know just how you feel. I’m sure you will get yours figured out.

Ludwig, I think the 1100’s are rated at 130 cfm to 185 cfm depending on which one you have. The Webers I'm using are rated around 150 cfm each. And there is always that WOW factor.

To be sure. The wow factor is reason #1. I have been sort of searching for glass bowl Holleys kinda sorta. But then if I actually got three, why then I'd have to do it. And that tri-carb rig is the bomb. Very nice. I played with the numbers a few years back. Seems my peok CFM would be about 350 or under. So I was also thinking of the Weber or Holley/Weber.
