ticking lifter

I have a ticking lifter in my 250. It doesent tick all of the time mostly at higher rpm,s. The engine has about 56,000 miles on it. Is this a lifter or a cam problem?

I had a stuck lifter and I thought before I would have to tear into the engine I would try a miracle additive figuring what did I have to lose. I bought some Marvel Mystery oil and addied it per the directions. drove it for a while and behold it had lossened up what ever made it stick. I changed the oil and have not had a problem since.

If the car with the tick is the 'old lady owned' one I would just increase my oil change interval till problem goes away or the oil starts coming out clean. Maybe adding one of those magic products or someting like and engine oil flush or ATF before a change. Unless you have the time and money for a complete rebuild I would not take anything apart except maybe the valve cover.
