I posted yesterday about my rough running issues under load and my suspicions that my fuel pump is petering out. Some responses in that thread questioned the integrity of my carb... which is certainly suspect. I have a 1940 that by outward appearances, looks pretty sad:

Also, My dizzy has a wee bit of shaft play, the springs are weak and I suspect that it is the original 40+ year old unit.
In short, I'm considering getting rid of my LOM/1940 setup altogether and going Duraspark II and getting the 5200 carb, spacer and aircleaner from Stovebolt.
I've researched hundreds of threads on the 2bbl upgrade, and most post seem to think that the progressive 5200 is a good mix of economy and performance.
This car is my daily driver and I'm currently getting 18-19 mpg. What can I expect with the Duraspark II/5200 setup.
