using white grease when installing radiator hoses????

There's a show on the diy channel called Classic Car that takes a car from "piece of junk sitting in a barn" to a full restoration. The one running now features a 69 Alfa Romeo. When the guy was putting the radiator hoses on, he used white grease on the inside of each hose. It sure made the installation and positioning of the hoses easy.

I've always used silicone spray.

I'm thinking that white grease would rot/break down the hose. Any comments?

Thanks. Tom

I have a spray bottle filled with water and about 1/2 a spoon of dishsoap. Works great.

Water and dish soap was the first to come to my mind. I think it would work well.

use a little bit of blue magic(RTV)myself. not much, just enough to put a very thin film on the inside of the hose. seems to keep the hose from being contrary when it has to be removed too.
