Valve job done....now it has a 'ticking' sound

kinda sounds like I have a noisy lifter...a ticking sound. I am thinking of taking it back to the shop to see if I can get that taken care of. Other than that, the car runs smooth with lots of power.

It's under warrantee...so if I am gonna sell it, I want that sound GONE.

Any ideas what this would be? Too lean? Not enough air? Too much choke? Noisy Lifer? Bad valve?

Could be an exhaust leak too...

I'm guessing exhaust leak too. Mine made the same ticking noise after re-assembly. I tightened down the exhaust bolts and the sound went away.

Most likely exhaust. However, you can take the valve cover off, and place a thumb over each rocker arm with the engine running. If you have a loose rocker/lifter, this will tell you which.

I NEVER thought of the exhaust...hmmm..

Thanks guys...save me a trip to the shop (15 miles in heavy travel roads). Not the fun drive....

sorry...wife has pnemonia...so I spent the weekend playing Doctor...not in a good sense...

will take care of this week
