I don't know about the rest of you, but I check this forum regularly for info, but I never venture over to the classifieds section of the fordsix page. I don't want to look through a bunch of modern stuff, plus i just bookmark this forum and come straight here.

I would like to know when vintage for six speed goodies come up for sale. I wouldn't mind the occasional "for sale" or "wanted" post showing up on the regular forum.

We could have conditions, like no business postings, no parts that are not specifically for vintage for six engines, no services posted, etc.

Posts should be prefaced with FS (for sale) or WTB (wanted to buy).

Let me know what you think? I personnaly need a crank for my 223, but I'm afraid that if I don't post it in the regular forum, nobody will see it in the classifieds.

OK, I just checked the classified section.

There are 50 posts on the main page, and not one part for early inline sixes.

I would vote yes.....just because I know how hard these vintage Ford I6 parts are to find and I'm sure a lot of us have extra parts lying around collecting dust that could be useful to others in need.....and only if there are strong strict rules & conditions to keep the scamers and johnny come lately's away.

so, you're talking about posting classified adds for vintage stuff in this section alone? or in Gasoline Alley or Sixshooter Saloon?

cause if it's in this section, i've got no problem with it at all, but in Gasoline or Sixshooter that might cause confusion and people might think that they could do it for one of the other sixes

i'll bring it up to the other mods though, good suggestion

Yup, right here in the "vintage ford inline sixes" section. most of us here are working on 215/223/262 sixes, and some on the earlier flatheads.

It would not be in the gasoline alley or sixshooter saloon (not sure what those are).

Nobody seems to post stuff for sale on these engines in the regular classifieds, so the regular forum seems to be a good place if we want to find or sell coveted vintage six stuff.

Thanks Asa.

Not sure what shape its in, but I have a crank in the 223 I pulled. The cylinders were worn quite a bit, I'm not sure how hard the cranks are comparitively, I understand the cylinders they used were soft. The block is in Southern Illinois, so depending on where you're at and if its any good it might be useful or not. It would be easy enough to calculate. The motor didn't smell "burnt" on disassembly, so its likely ok. I'll be back down there soonish, so I can plastigauge it easily if you can't find a closer replacement. The block is a 1961 part number, it looks like an excellent candidate for rebuilding(pretty sure its not been bored before) if you just want the whole thing.

You don't have to look through a bunch of modern stuff, greaseball, all you have to do is run a search for what you're looking for in the "Buy, Sell, Trade Forum". To do this, just click on the search button at the top of the page, enter what you want to search for in the "kewords" box, the go to Search Options, Forums, click on the down arrow and select the "Buy, Sell, Trade" forum. Run the search and nothing you don't want (all that modern stuff) will show in the results. You can do the same thing in the "Wanted" forum. It took me 10 seconds to run a search for "215, 223, 262" in the "Buy, Sell, Trade" forum and I didn't get any modern stuff in the results.

I think we should leave the want ads and for sale ads in their appropriate forums, that's why we have them. Maybe the reason there are 50 ads for modern stuff and few or no ads for vintage sutff is because there just aren't that many of you guys placing ads in either of the existing forums?

I appreciate your quest, but don't think we should circumvent existing protocol, just my opinion.

Says the guy with the 200 in his 62 :P ( couldn't find older parts in the forums maybe? :D ). Just kidding.
There are plenty of 170 parts out there, here and elsewhere, the difference is I wasn't searching for a replacement for the broken 170, I wanted a "modern" 200.

Btw, I love the 200/C4 combo, the only thing that will make it better is the T5 sitting in storage. 8)

I created separate "Buy, Sell, Trade" sections for the Small Six, Big Six, Vintage Inlines, and Misc Parts. We'll see how it goes over the next few months. If it seems like our members like the adds separated, we'll leave them, if not I'll just combine all the new adds back into one section.
