I am sorry for asking the same questions and same topics again and again, but I have no idea what the temp of my car is running at to determine if there is a problem with the cooling system and that is why I have a water temp gauge but I cant get it to work. I have rewired my gauge cluster set up and it is clean, functional, easy, looks cool with the black interior, but still my water temp gauge doesnt work. I have a wire that goes right to the battery, a ground wire to the engine bay for the chassis, and a wire for the sensor but it doesnt want to work. is there a specific wire for the sensor that i need to use? I try my stock sensor I get above 280 degreees, I try my equiped sensor I get nothing. What do I do, I bought it at pep boys they wont help me. What do I do? HELP

Ok. Confirm that you have voltage to the gauge. Next with the sensor wire disconnected at the sensor touch it to ground. You should see your gauge go all the way to the hot side. If it does not you have a bad sensor wire to the gauge. If it does go all the way to hot you have a bad sending unit. There is no special wire needed for the sensor. From reading your post I would have to say the problem is a bad sending unit.

Is it that your gauge isn't hot, or that it is not moving? If it is the latter, are you sure that your heat sending unit is still good?
