I have a 65 mustang with a 200 I6 and would like to know what the stock carb was supposed to be?

Also I would like to know what a good replacement carb would be.

Thanks for the help.

I'm 99% sure you need an Autolite 1100 for the concours correct carb for the 65 mustang 200.

should look like this:

Personally, I like the 1100 for a stock engine. IT is a pretty easy carb to work with. Nice upgrades are the clifford 2-1 adaptor and go with a holley. Also, if you stay with a 1V, I hear a Carter RBS (is that right?) is a nice upgrade, but might not fit your head if you have a stock 65 head.

Lagrasta.......thanks for the warm and fuzzy and all the helpfull info....ordered it 2 days ago.

I guess I should apologize for the premature question, but I won't since I thought that was what this site was for. Sorry to disturb you.

Cobrasix...great thats exactly what it looked like. Mine was jacked out of my truck...doubt they even knew what it was.

Didn't mean to sound rude. I will appologize.

You'll be thrilled when you get the book. It's packed with all the upgrade stuff you'll ever want. It will inspire you to start planning all sorts of time and money sucking projects.

Cool..Cool must have taken it the wrong way.

So now where can I buy one?

If you have $200 to drop into the carb, buy one from ponycarbs.com. Hands down the best place to get them. They correct a lot of problems these 1100s are known to have. Absolutely love mine. Mine however is in need of a rebuild (clogged idle fuel circuit). Other then that, Any auto parts store can order one, or mustangsunlimited.com, NPD, just to name a few.

If you are not in a hurry, I'll have one available soon after I put my new Aussie head on.

In no hurry. Haven't even started on the engine yet.

Keep in touch, I will be interested. I plan on tearing down the whole engine for rebuild depending on the money I have left after I have the car media blasted.

So let talk.
