sorry if this topic has already been posted and i just havent been able to find it.

what carbs should i use for a 3x1 setup and what jets should i use, i have read on here that i should use a larger jet on the middle one, seems im gonna be using progressive linkage, and i should use smaller jets on the others.
And do i need a fuel block, do i need a new pump, where do i get progressive linkage and all that?
thanks

Various Holleys including the 1904s, the various Autolite 1100s, which I tried to use and never got to work properly and the Weber 34 ICH or ITH(one has a choke and the other does not)

The Webers were not availible do to a factory strike when I started the project but if I were to try it again I would go with the Webers. New carburetors, less trouble.

The webers are very tunable and relatively cheap. I didn't use a fuel block-just a fuel line to the carbs that is split to each. You'll want a regulator in line as well cause the webers can't handle any more that 3 lbs of pressure max. Stock pump seems to work just fine for me.

webers..34ich

thats what i'm running, 3 34 ic series, one with choke, 2 without. very tunable and very easy to work with. you will have to up the jets from stock but thats no biggie.

Clifford used to sell 34 ICH for the offenhauser (sp) triple barrel adapter. Weber also makes a 34 ICT, that is very similar to the ICH, but it does not have a choke. I have a set -up ready to put on my car. I went with a regular OEM carb (bought it at an AutoZoo-type place); but I told the parts guy it was for a '69 Mustang with 200. This carb has ported vacuum and not the LOM/spark control valve. The end carbs are 34ICTs. I did put this on my car right after I rebuilt the engine, but had problems with the linkage (end carb wouldn't open up) so I made block off plates for the end holes and went back to an OEM carb in the middle so I could drive it.

cool, i got a lot of info now.
im gonna go with the webers, should i use 3 with choke or should i use one with choke and the others without a choke.
thanks

one with choke is sufficient.

The outboards should be 34 ICT and the center 34 ICH ( this one has the choke )

The Holley 1904s can be a pain in the a$$; sometimes they leak, flood and hard to find, but they look cool.

they're also the shortest carbs I could find. Since I'm running a 250 cu in motor that's nearly 2" taller, hood clearance is a problem. If I can't get these to run in a reliable daily driver then I'll switch to Webers like the other members suggested.

The reason I went with ICT on the ends is that they are eaisier to find. Or at least at that time (2004) I could find ICT any time I checked e-bay. The ICH were tougher to find/come across. If you can find 3 ICHs, go for it. But you'll need to remove or disable the chokes from the end carbs.

That's a heck of a nice looking setup there. Nice work. If it runs anywhere near as good as it looks it'll be fine.

:)

Woah, Jahearne. That throttle linkage is a really slick solution to a knotty problem; simple and direct. Did you refashion the stock bar by cutting and bending or is it something else?

I ran 1100s on my old Offy set up. I found with the 65 body style, hood clearance was a serious issue and the 1100 is the shortest of the easily available carbs. Plus they are relatively straight forward. I just removed the choke assemblies from the forward and rear carbs.

That's what I'm hoping! got my fingers crossed.

I took a length of threaded stock that I got from the hardware store and bent it to shape. I'll get some better photos of it.

I went with the Webers after trying a Carter RBS for center carb. Also tried running 3 holley 1904's. Weber ICh running in center seems really good and fixed my rough idle problems.
