What does this smoke mean?

Well, this was only the second time I fired up my 60 Comet with a 144. It had been sitting for the past 1 1/2 to 2 years before I bought it. After it ran for about at 5 minutes, a lot of smoke was coming out of the crankcase hole. I've seen a little smoke in the past on other cars but not this much. Any thoughts on what this might be or causing it? Thanks.

What kind of smoke...water vapor...oil byproduct???

It is possible for some moisture to escape out if you leave the valve cover cap off on a cool day and you could see it of you look at it closely.

Any color to it or smell?

oh yeah...by crankcase hole...you do mean the breather or PCV valve openings on the top of the valve cover?

Thanks for the reply. It's a white smoke coming out and doesn't have an odor, that I've noticed. I'll pay more attention to the odor next time I start it. I don't have the pcv hole, just the breather hole on top of the valve cover. The breather cap always stays on but it's been rainy and cold here lately so maybe moisture got in. I'm just not used to seeing smoke come out like this.
