I plan to go to an 8.8 tracloc with 3.25 gears, have the stock 3.08 rear right now.

I can get my stock converter modified for about ~$250, and don't really know what to tell the guy if I decide to do this.

I believe the stock converter is around 650rpm, but this cam doesn't want to idle much lower than 850rpm in gear. Seems to like about 1000rpm in neutral.

Do you want it to be Quicker than it was stock , or just drivable , the 250 is small compared to the standard for stall by most MFG's ( which is a stock 350 chev for torque ) to get extra performance you will need a converter rated at 3500 at a minimum ( it will flash to 2500 if your combo is tuned well at best ) anything less will be a disappointment , forget what the converters is advertized at , that's a flash stall and again based on a 350 engine , If your converter measures over 10 inch in Diameter , there is no way it can be loosened up enough to justify the 250 , and a decent 10 will cost 450+ , its a tuff pill to swallow , but its the Facts if a cruiser is all your looking for ( the street rod crowd fits here ) an 11 ich would suffice and 250+ will get you one of those , but an all stock 250 will leave you in the dust for the first 60 + feet at least , I don't sugar coat any of my post's and I don't quote rehashed sentences from a magazine article , If I haven't done It or worked on a car that I fixed , I won't open my mouth and post , nuff said
