What temperature thermostat for 61 Comet with 144

Hi,

I'm in the process of changing my timing chain and thought I would change the thermostat while I'm at it. I'm not sure what temp thermostat I should get. The Advance Auto Parts website lists a wide variety for my year car. The old one I believe is a 160. It is a Delco and has 160U written on it in small letters. It might have nothing to do with the temp.

Yes, that's a 160 degree t-stat - too cold for anything but summer driving, imho.

Stock t-stat was most likely a 190 or 195. My '62 170 called for a 195 as stock, iirc.
