I have a '64 falcon with a 170. The transmission is a c4 and I need to swap the torque converter and flexplate out and was considering one with a higher stall. First off, what is the stall on a stock converter, and which one would be advisable to use with a slightly modified 170 motor, i.e., headers, 2bbl carb, mild cam, etc? Something for daily street and highway use with a little more juice, but nothing to send the girl through the track. Also, what size flexplate and with how many teeth should I match up with it? Any recommendations for modifications to motor or tranny would be greatly appreciated, as I am a virgin to all this.
