What are the differences between an Autolite 2100 and a Motorcraft 2150, Is one any better or worse than the other?

Thanks, but I was looking for something a little more in depth about the performance characteristics of the two different carburetors. For example does one atomize fuel any better than the other?

In a word No , that being said , I assume you want to put it on a log head 6cylinder , SO , like I said before , the Base is usually different ,and probably WONT fit , worrying about atomization on a log head is a moot point if its the carb your talking about ( That's right pony carbs were a gimmick ) IMHO , when talking individual runner setups , well THAT is a different story , its also why a triple carb setup will outperform a single 2100 , BUT , the 2100 is much easier , pick your poison

8) 2100 vs 2150, six of one, half a dozen of the other. ford used a separate egr plate, but otherwise the carbs used the same mounting pattern. there are going to be a couple more vacuum fittings on the later carb so keep that in mind.

Howdy Kenny and All:

The Motorcraft/Ford 2150 appeared in 1975 as part of the lingering demise of the Autolite Co. As previously mentioned it was modified to try to achieve EPA goals for Ford vehicles. While it maintained all of the pluses of the earlier 2100 it also added a VV (Variable Venturi) function which was a sliding rod in the high speed air bleeds. The intent was to make a cleaner carb through the throttle range. IF you will need to get into tuning air bleeds for your application, this complicates the process. Overall, the 2100 is cleaner, weighs less and is easier to tune.

However, If you've go a good 2150, use it.

Thanks David, do you know what venturi sizes the 2150 was made in?

Same as the 2100, such as the 1.01, 1.02, 1.08, 1.14, 1.21, 1.23 etc

Howdy Back:

I've only seen 2150 in the 1.08 (on 302s) and 1.21 (on 351s) sizes. I seem to recall a smaller size version on 255 V8s but can't say for sure.

What application are you looking for?
