I'm planning on getting a head from a post-1977 ford to put on my mustang. I'm having trouble finding one for a reasonable price, as well as describing to the salvage yards what type of vehicle I need it for. Any help is greatly appreciated?

Howdy Back:

Fairmonts, Futuras, Granada, Mercury Zephyrs, Monarchs, Ford Bronchos,
Thunderbirds.

I'm not sure of the last years for Mavericks and Comets but they will be close to the '77 model year.

Good hunting.

Adios, David

They stopped making the mavericks and comets in '77 in the U S . In other countries they made them for a cuple more years .

8) ford stopped installing the small six in the bronco in 1973, and in 1978 the big bronco had the 300 six as its base engine.

Thanks guys, i just got one out of a '77 mav. It was very dirty, but nothing a little cleaning and work cant fix. Thanks again

I had a 83 mustang with a I6 250.
I wished I kept that car.

I now have a 77 Granada with a 250. Its getting 28mpg with a 3 speed (with overdrive) transmission....

8) not possible unless it was swapped in. ford stopped making the 250 when they changed the granada to the fox body style. all the fox bodies got the 200 inline six, never the 250.
