I remember something from an old Ak Miller article about grinding down the side of one head bolt on a 170/200 for oil flow purposes. Seems like it was the furthest one back on the right side, but I can't remember. anybody know? The engine I'm rebuilding has the ground down bolt, but I didn't pay attention to which hole it came out of when I took it apart.....

Look at the under side of the head, it's the one with the oil trasfer slot. The one closest to the driver IIRC. Maybe someone will post which years had the tapered head bolt in that location. Then you just need to get one from the junkyard.

its covered in the falcon performance handbook as well - head bold #11, driver side rear.

The Schjeldahl bros. point out to rely on a `75-`83 200/ 250 head bolt with smaller shank diameter rather than grinding a flat side on that particular head bolt.
