Hey guys...been busy with new job (50+ hours last week) and when I went to drive my car...i smelled gas . I hadnt driven since last weekend...when, thinking back, I smelled gas then too..

popped the hood and my connector hose to my carb (still old one) was spraying gas on my exhaust. YIKES

a quick screwdriver turn fixed it but that was close....

I must have hit it while doing monte bar....

check y our hoses frequently...

talk to you guys soon

Chaz, I take you are using a rubber fuel hose? You might want to try bending your own solid line from the fuel pump to the carb. I had the same problem with my '65 till I bent my own line. The hardest part was finding a decent line-bending tool (Harbor Freight has a decent one). Many parts places have brake/fuel line that can easily be bent. I bend my lines as far away from the engine as I can (even on a very hot day they are quite cool) & use teflon tape on the connections. Problem solved.

I ran braided from my filter to carb (fairlanes had the filter on a bracket that also held the coil. I just used a -4 autometer gauge hookup kit (about $35 locally) came with a 36" line and a couple fittings. works great. I will prob drill and tap another hole on my filter housing so I can run another one to the pump.

i have a metal line till about 4 inches before carb...

I hopefully will be swithcing carbs to the YF I bought today. I will make sure all lines are tight.

I have been so busy trying to upgrade, I forgot to maintain

just doing a friendly reminder to everyone...
