Howdy 83Fairmont200I6:
The simple answer is yes, BUT! The but is the chamber volume should be about the same at 62cc, but you will likely be replacing the OEM .025" steel shim gasket for a composite type aftermarket in the .045" - .055" thickness range. Your stock '82 200 CR is about 8.2 to 8.5:1. The thicker gasket will result in a loss of CR into the 7.8:1 range.
What's the matter with your '82 head? Unless the '72 head has a flat-topped log for more volume, the '82 head is my choice.
Yes, you can simply bolt on the Maverick head, but you'd be throwing money away. It will not increase performance. It will lose performance. Now if you can mill the head at least .030", get a three angle valve job, minimum, you can take advantage of the bigger 250 carb.
