Just a question.

A mate was told today that he couldn't get the C4 put in place of his BW35 as the column quadrant gate didn't have the correct pattern for the C4.

I suspect the tranny man was punting a too-hard job, but want to hear if anyone else has thoughts or experience.

If I'd had a day off, it would have fitted.

Haven't done it on an XR, but they are they same on the later Falcons like XB and XD. I think it just might have looked a bit to hard for them....

I think there will be A problem as the bw wont have a 1 position, only a low, whereas the C4 can engage first or second gear. Use a floor shift!

At some stage, I'll bag a ZC/ZD Fairlane column, and inspect it, then compare with the Falcon one. Given that they sold him on a BW tranny for $600 rather than put in his rebuilt C4 (nice guys; they offered to "throw it out" for him), I think it just fell in the too-hard basket.

We shall see, anyhow.

Yeah, I actually want the collapsible one for my XP project. The later style column shift is more durable than the XP type. But it will be a good chance to compare the quadrant gates. Either way, I suspect they're no longer the $80 part they were a few years ago. Much less common.
