yes no ef crank straght bolt into 86/87da block

iam needing to know if the ef crank is a straght bolt in job for the 86/87da block (last of the xflows)
i am lead to bleave it is as they used the same crank as the ea falcons.
also was the xr6 crank knife edged from the factory ive herd rumours they where?

Rear main seal changed from EB to EB2.
So I'm in the dark as to whether the outer diameter is the same and its just the inner diameter that changed or ..?
One day I'll pull my knackered EF motor apart and take some photos and measurements for all to see.

well i went and checked the parts book and found something interesting out.
an ef crank will fit all 1 piece rear main seals as the outer size doesent change on the innear so it should work from 84da-to 87 da blocks and all ohc block etill au.

g,day , i was talking to a mechanic here and he said that he has pulled about 15, EF cranks out because they wear out are soft etc , and replace them with EA cranks as they dont seem to wear , just thought i would mention it , cheers pete

do the ea cranks have the 12 conterweights like the ef?

or do they only have 7?

i wouldnt worry about the ef cranks wearing out too soon either, every second ef has 500,000 k's on it... thats good enough for me.

if the ea does have 12 counterweights, does the 3.2 have 12 also?

Ea crank is the same as XF.

They wear out because they aren't fitted with thrust from factory. Go figure. All aftermarket main-bearing sets have thrust faces on the nominated shells.
