hone ,, what grit?

gona be honing the new 200 for the van , i have just standerd rings , so what grit would be best 120 or 240 grit?

Those grits would be ok for roughing the bore, for finishing honing you need 525-625 grit, even for a stock rebuild ! Much more finer grits are used for racing applications....typically around 820!
 
We've always just used the 'rabbit turd' hone and made a few passes up and down the cylinders. I have NO idea what grit that thing is.

Your welcome! You also can contact the ring manufacturer, they will be more than glad to give their recommendations for the ring type you are using and application your using it for....
