I just figured out that one of the adjusters has been worn down! I guess the adjustment slipped, weird. How do I get just one?

Is that an aftermarket rocker assembly or a factory unit? I found that some aftermarket adjusters are not very compatible with oem pushrods. I was running an aftermarket adjustable assembly with oem pushrods and found that about half of the adjusters did not seat fully in the pushrod cup and was so tight that no oil could get in there for lubrication. Wore a big ring in the adjusters and my valves kept coming out of adjustment before I figured out what was happening. If this is the case you better check out the entire rocker assembly. My fix was to replace all the adjusters and go with an aftermarket set of pushrods which had a slightly larger cup end. Just an FYI...

thanks for the reply gene. the assembly is stock, the rods are aftermarket (from Classic Inlines). some of the adjusters (including the one that wore down) were not stock. when i originally put the 250-2v head on (a couple of years ago), i added the adjustable set that came with the OZ head. some of the adjusters were real loose, they would not tighten down well you could hand loosen and tighten. at the time a friend found these adjusters that were slightly larger and therefore snug, which i used.

i went out and dug around in the garage tonight and found the original adjusters. like i said, they are a bit loose. but, i think one will work fine with some medium threadlocker. what do you think?

I have a better idea...here is one of my old adjusters. Some of them were lucky enough to not have hardly any visible wear on them. They are not the interferance type adjusters like you have, but rather you can finger screw them into the rocker but they have a locking nut on them so you can tighten them down onto the top of the rocker. The top of the adjuster accepts an allen wrench so you can hold it in place while you lock down the nut. If you want to try this just give me your address and I will send you one...no charge. Just glad to be able to help out. :)

Hi Gene,
Thank you for the offer, but I had already installed the adjuster with threadlocker when I saw your post on Sunday. I am hoping that all will be fine now. After taking a few drives I will take the valve cover off and make sure. I will let you know if I need that adjuster. Where do you get those type of adjusters? Seems like a good upgrade with the locking bolt.
