Oil pan gasket sealer

I am indecisive on using gasket sealer for the oil pan on my 200.

1) Who is using sealer and what kind are you using?

2) Are you coating one or both sides

I only use permatex RTV black on the oil pan gasket just a little on the gasket and under the rubber ends, always put it on the block side to help keep it from shiftng but just a little ,not enough to squish out just enough to hold it in place, and a small dab where the rubber and cork meet. I have been doing it this way for a long time and have not had any leaks. I have used this method for over 20 years and many engine builds after reading an article on engine sealing in a hot rod magazine.

Ultra grey permantex on the corners where the side gaskets mate with the rubber end gaskets.
Bubba & myself also use contact cement or another adhesive on the pan rails just to keep them i place.
Ultra Grey takes a little longer to set up but does a superior job.
If you are in a rush just use black permatex.
However the best sealant is made by toyota FIPG. Very pricy but is the best of the best. Bill
