Dip Stick and Tube

Post #1 by Sickboy49 » Tue Jul 28, 2020 3:40 pm

So I am putting in a new intake/exhaust manifold gasket, and this "dip stick" broke the dip stick tube. Any one know of any replacements, and how to do it? It would be for a 1961 Ford Farelane with a 223. Also it was interesting to find that there was no intake/exhaust manifold gasket at all. Thank you for the help in advance.

Did it break off even with the block? Or is there some left to grab?

From further investigation I found that it seems that it is almost a fitting on each end of the break. There is about 1/4" to 3/8" sticking out of the block. I will post a pic later today.

The Dip stick is a slight interference fit into the block if there is anything to grab on that you can get a vice grip on gently twist it a little back and forth as you are pulling up. You could maybe try welding or brazing it back togeather again too. How did you do on your rocker arms? I found you a set of NOS ones if you still need some. Good luck
