Does anyone know of a newer starter that will interchange with the long shaft starter . I thought I talked with some one about it once & they used a modern type of starter like from a 302? 8)
As I remember, there was some discussion about this subject sometime back maybe 4 / 5 years ago. Don't remember what it all entailed as I just found an extra stock starter and kept it for a spare. If you do a search through my postings, you should run across the thread.
Interesting...I have a 1964 F100 with the 223 and the starter is starting to go. I found the local O'Reilly's could order me one for $39.99, and I found another place locally where I got the drive for $40. What is the advantage of going with a substitute? Not having to deal with the drive?
