223 side cover

Post #1 by 62bigwindow » Wed May 01, 2019 7:12 pm

Is anyone aware of a aluminum side cover for a 223. I'd like to get one to match a finned valve cover.

I seem to remember them being around but I don't remember who made them or having seen any recently. The most likely manufacturers are Fenton or Offenhauser. Fenton is gone and (IIRC) Offenhauser is only making small runs of 223 intake manifolds. Keep an eye on Ebay, the only other place they might show up is at a flea market.

X2 Yes I also think that I remember seeing them and that they were made during the 1950's and 1960's. Some of the possable company's that could have made them are Sharpe, Fenton, Cal Custom, Edelbrock, and Offenhauser. Possable places you can look is the Pomona and Long Beach automotive swap meets (in the SoCal area), other local area antique auto swap meets, EBay, Craigslist, other online sites, old wrecking yards, yard sales. Good luck in the hunt.
A bad day Drag Racing is still better than a good day at work!

I am still hunting for a project car to build but with my current low budget it's not looking so good. My Ex- Fleet of Sixes these are all long gone! :bang: 1954 Customline 223 3 speed with O/D, 1963 Fairlane project drag car with BB6, 1977 Maverick 250 with C4, 1994 F-150 a 300 with 5 speed.
