My distributor is tired and the lobes are worn. It came with the 1976 XC crossflow and has done 750000 since 1992, plus 220000 on the clock when I got the XC. Installed it in the reco motor fitted in 2000, low compression 250 ironhead crossflow with hardened valves, dual fuel, w/ pacemaker headers, rejetted stromberg bx with 14 inch air filter (yes, that is possible).
So now I m considering an upgrade to a XF EST dizzy with a MSD6425-6AL. Hopefully I can get a new old stock XF EST dizzy.
Question is, what are the three wires coming out of it, from left to right?
Can I retard the advance back to 6-9 degrees with the MSD (more advance and the standard 250 pings)?
And will this combo work with my Bosch GT40 coil? Or do I need to get a better coil?
I assume this will be easy to install and wire up or am I missing sth?
