J= Australian Ford
H = Assembley plant Code. Don't know about the type of streamlined plant alterations after 1985. The Geelong plant was rejigged after the Clevleand was axed in 1983.
71, body type, I don't know what it is. Could be a Fairlane or LTD
C = Year code (C is 84);
G = Date code (G is April)
The 4.1 engine was also being made for the F150 and Bronco, but only till 1985, so its likely to be nothing other than a Falc, Monty, Fairline or LTD. Can't remember when the Falcon based Nissan Ute came out.
Kiwi cars got codes like MEA for exports, then the JG or JL or JH no.
I've got JC 31BT 313520 for a 83DA 6015 block. It was a wagon too!
I've got JG45XB for a 76 DA 6015 block. It was a Panel van
I've got JG 35GB 55777 for a 84 DA 6015 block. It was from an EFI Fairmont Ghia, I think.
Looks like
22 is a base Falcon
23 is a Falcon 500
31 is Wagon
32 is base sedan (although some have said its a Fairmont Ghia)
33 is a Fairmont, Futura or GT sedan
34 ??is Fairmont Wagon
35 is Fairmont Ghia
45 is Panel Van
61? Fairlane
71? LTD
The codes were shown in
Muscle Numbersin Australian Muscle car, and the rest is from cars I wrecked lately!.
