#1 rocker shaft pedestal cap

According to the tech page on distributer geer failure, there should be a pedestal cap under the #1 rocker arm shaft bolt that helps lubricate the distributer geer. The '67 200 that I am currently rebuilding didn't have one. I also looked under the valve cover of an early '70s 250 that I have and it didn't have one either. Does anyone know if this part can be purchased and, if so, where.

Ford actually used three differnt styles for the #1 pedestal. The first was a standard pedestal (like all the others), which had no provisions for oiling. The second had a little bump casted on the side, with a small hole drilled in it. The third utalized a removable cap with a hole drilled through the top of the cap.

Unfortunately they can't be purchased new, as they are often lost during the rebuild process. The only place you might find one, is your local boneyard. But that's going to take some looking, as I have no idea what year(s), or what size motor they came on. Your only other option is to drill a small hole in a large washer, but you'll probably need to grind off the sides so it will clear the rocker arms.
