144/170 oil pan on 200 six

Hi dose anyone know if a early 1963 170 cui. oil pan will fit on a 1978/80 200cui. engine from a fairmont because the newer 200cui. has an rear sump oil pan I would like to put the 200 cui in my 1963 falcon .but because of the rear sump pan I think it will interfere with my streering centerlink any advice would be very helpful Thank's.

8) yep, 144-200 oil pans all interchange. just remember to use the right pick up with which ever pan you use.

Yup. The oil pan and the oil pump pickup tube have to be swapped together.

If you try to use a center sump pan with a rear sump oil pump pickup tube the rear sump oil pump pickup tube will be sticking out of the bottom of the pan. The same would be true if you try to use a rear sump pan with a center sump oil pump pickup tube.

And neither will work very well.

I used the 170 pan from my Falcon 6 on the Fairmont 6 - 200 cid engine.

I had to relocate the oil dip stick tube also...

my 200cid block had multiple holes for the dipstick. I removed a plug for the tube to install into. I naturally plugged the other hole. 8)
