Hi
Anyone out there have a set of 14 inch 4 stud rims from a 65 Fairlane with disc brakes. Got the brakes, just got the wrong wheels.

Thanks

'65 would be a Compact 'lane. AFAIK, all the ones sold here were 8 inch rears, 5 stud. Sounds like someone's fed you a line there.

You need XP Squier/Fairmont rims. I paid $200 for mine (set 4) with widened rims and 2 half-decent boots (Kellys). Watch for corrosion on the inside of the rim; this is costly to fix and fitting a tube to avoid the issue actually promotes the rate of rusting.

Nissan 240Z rims work and look OK on the Mustangs. Alloys never deteriorate as badly as steel (except in a marine environment).

Cheers, Adam.

Thanks for that, I bought a set of rims from a guy a few years back, but noticed they had 13inch tires on them . (very observant of me to see that 2 years later) The Disc's fit in but there ain't much room in there. I have some 14 Mustang Rims but as you said the rims aren't deep enough as they where for drums brakes. So do you think what I have is the OK?... or not.

From my experimenting, it's not the disc that fouls, it's the caliper. I found that, anyway. If you have 13's that clear the caliper, they may have some funny backset (like off a front-wheel drive car)? If they fit, get them balanced and see how it goes. Sometimes odd-seeming combinations will work fine.

I saw one only XP Futura with 13s and 4 stud discs (almost ten years ago in Surry Hills), and even today am not sure what they were off - certainly not 1965 Ford Falcon issue.

BTW, I am mentally chewing through splash shield issues. I've an XT spindle that has a factory cut-down splash shield (GT?), and am toying with either patterning off this for the XP shields, or beating in some kind of louvre/scoop to aid cooling. They're not a huge brake rotor and extra cooling appeals for that reason.

Regards, Adam.
