Is there an adapter available to fit a SBF bellhousing onto a 170??? I have a ZF I would love to attach to my 170. If not, I may be searching for a 300. :bang:

I am not aware of any adapter like that. Maybe Modern Driveline but unlikely.

8) while there is no adapter to fit a small block ford bell to the 170 block, there is an adapter to fit the V8 transmissions to the 170 bell.

The ZF has the bell housing integrated with transmission and a hydraulic clutch. Broncitis on here, is running a four speed toploader. There is a RUG 3speed and overdrive I have thought about, but it will take some deep gears(4:88 or above) to be effective. Any oversize tires will compound the matter. And of course using any V8 tranny brings up the issue of length after adding the transfer case, making drive angle steep. I have 30" tires and plenty of power, but any OD would be useless for me, unless I redid the gears.

Well I would just like to put the ZF in there. I know OD would be useless. Eventually I'd get tired of it and I'd swap in a 300. Might even get crazy and install my 429 yet... But I'm not really interested in a V8... yet.

Keep in mind if its a 170 a 200 fits there, and built well would be a great upgrade , rather than going 300 , the final goal is of course yours , but 200's are easy to find

Bronco weighs in at over 4000 lbs. A 300ci is a bit of work to get it in, but would make installing a ZF a lot easier due to the SBF bellhousing pattern. Quite a few 250ci's have been transplanted.(bmbm40 for one) Either way, not going to be easy.
