170 Exhaust Hardware

Hi, does anybody have a good recommendation on where I can get a set of exhaust manifold bolts for a '63 170? Even a listing of the sizes would be helpful. Thanks for the help...292fan

NPD has them if you want stock style bolts. or you can just use grade 8 automotive fasteners from your local auto parts.http://shop.autocraftinvestments.com/in ... _str=&pg=2

8) i wouldnt recommend using grade 8 hardware on exhaust system bolts, they are too brittle for that. you want a bolt that will expand and contract with the ehxaust, and a grade 5 bolt is better at doing that. i would recommend using factory style bolts instead, as indicated npd has them as does autokrafters. a better idea is to use brass studs and nuts for the exhaust, that way they dont rust in place.

Yes. I've already done 'an Exhaust Manifold 'job' on the Comet,and everyone I spoke to said to use the Brass Studs/Nuts. It took a day or two longer,but now I've got peace of mind knowing that stuff will last. ~OO6.

Thanks for the replies everybody. I was thinking of the brass stud/nut combo myself, but didn't know if it was possible. Does anyone know the thread size? Again, thanks for the help. :thanks:
