All Small Six Bolts for 6 Cyl Exhaust Manifold

This relates to all small sixes

Will be replacing the exhaust manifold gasket and thinking that the manifold bolts may need replacing. I have broken all 11 loose (and re-tightened), so I hope to be able to replace without issues. Mine are not original and no lock washers. I had replaced the manifold several years ago, and think I re-used same bolts then.
Anyone have experience with the AMK F-525 bolt kit? I see they come with locking washers. Are lengths right for a 1966 200 6 cylinder head?

Any recommendations on a good replacement gasket?

Suggestions are appreciated!

Have a look at Remflex brand graphite exhaust manifold gaskets.
they're soft, thick. and withstand high heat. also look at Stage 8 exhaust bolts. They have teardrop-looking cam stop washers you place on top of the bolts after tightened, installed at a position that will hit the manifold if the bolt tries to loosen.

if you surfaces are in good shape, I would look for a copper gasket. I haven’t had real good luck with composite gaskets. Stage 8 bolts are nice, but they didn’t keep the composite gaskets from leaking. Small six exhaust bolts aren’t hard to get to, you could just use lock washers and re-torque them from time to time, save a v8 little $$

I use stainless steel studs and nuts. (zoom in) (Mc Master carr)
This is on my 300, same on my 144 falcon.
I am a huge fan of studs. They allow for total thread engagement and do not break when removing the nuts. All my heads and main caps use studs. I used stage 8 bolts on my 302 in a mustang and will never use them again. Why - Getting the locking tabs off was a nightmare.

I'm on the same team. I piecemealed mine out of studs, zink plated washers, lock washers and nuts and it cost a bunch. Next time I'll just get a small block ford or small block chevy kit.

Studs and brass nuts if you can find them!

Get brass for the exhaust pipe to manifold hook up also.

Is that brass studs and nuts? Or just brass nuts?
Not sure it's "correct", mixing these metals, I use regular studs and brass nuts. On the exhaust pipe flange, stock steel studs and brass. I know brass is not as strong, but has worked on several vehicles holding the manifolds, and the pipe-to-manifold without issue. Makes removal much easier. I double-nutted the exhaust pipe on one vehicle just to be sure it wouldn't strip the brass.
