All Small Six 1970 Ranchero 302 to 250 swap

This relates to all small sixes

I have an opportunity to pick up a running driving 70 Ranchero with a worn out 302 for a song.

I have two 250's that could make 1 good engine over a long weekend.

I assume that the bolt pattern should match up and be pretty "easy" swap.

Any big hurdles I am not aware of?

Sorry it this is the wrong place for this question but didn't see any wagon/truck/Homer Simpon's car design categories.

The transmission from the 302 is a direct bolt on; the 302 and 250 have the same bellhousing bolt pattern.
You will have to replace the 302 flywheel/flexplate with a zero balance one.
The 302 motor mounts will have to be replaced with ones from a six cylinder.
The 70 Ranchero is based on the Torino platform, so it may be easier to find the motor mounts.

No big hurdles I'm aware of.

Hope this helps.

This is what I was thinking, thanks! I have a flywheel on one of my 250's so might get lucky.

Nothing like buying a project when your knee deep in a project.........

Hardest thing is what to tell the Ole' lady...
