Would you be buying the 84 Mustang as parts for another Fox body Mustang? (79-93) if not then the parts will not fit.

Check to see if the 84 Mustang has 10" brakes, if you have factory stock 14" wheels thay may not fit. Mine did not.

Im assuming the 84 2.3L is a auto trans. It should be a different tranny and most likely a C3. It might be a A4LD but either way both are weak and die even behind 4 bangers.

The rears will be the same but the 4 cylinder may or may not have better gears. You need to check the door tag

Not much interchages between the Fox Mustang and the 66-73 Mustang.

You might be able to use the power brake booster and the transmission. The front seats can be retrofitted.

The brakes do not fit, nor do the wheels, suspension, steering, or rear end.

This thread reminds me of something I've been thinking about for a while. Has anyone swapped a mid-80's Mustang turbo 2.3 into an early Mustang?

Sorry about the thread-hijack...

I cant remember which issue but it was within the last couple of years Hot Rod had a Falcon with a EFI turbo 2.3L and it was pretty darn quick.

I think someone at turboford.org is workin on it, and i have heard of others that did it but have never seen one in person or seen pics or anything like that... would be a sweet ride though! I just finished putting a 2.3 turbo in my 89 mustang, now working out all the kinks...

if the 84 has a T5 trans you might be able to use that, but if you are going to all the trouble to do a T5 swap you may as well just get one from a 5.0.
