2.3 hsc pistons

i have heard of a few guys that have used 2.3 hsc in thier sixes, what with this, i know that they are nearly the same size, but are they forged or something?
 
The pistons are the same pin height & are available in .020-.060 oversize. they are a true flat top piston which will raise the compression ratio over the stock dished pistons. They are cast pistons & are available from sealed power. william,see my post several months ago.
Don, flat top pistons are available from sealed power the specs match the dish pistons for the 200 engine. the # 's are 489p in standard .020,.030,.040 & .060 these pistons are for the 1984 tempo engine hsc. the wb site for ordering them is: http://www.pickproparts.com/PartsList.a ... oryID=5620 . according from sealed power the weight is 585 grams for the flat tops, the stock dished piston is 635 grams. so an engine balance is necessary. hope this helps a lot of folks looking for more compression. Before i would balance i would weigh the tempo pistons & the pistons you are removing. Then make the desision to balance or not to. Hope this helps william

They are the same size, what many find good about them is the fact that they are flat top pistons. The stock inline six had a thin (.018) metal head gasket, which is no longer being made. After rebuilding your inline six you have to either deck the block or mill the head down to keep the same C/R 9:5.1 as an example from the factory while using the newer thick (.045) composite head gaskets. It's just a short cut to keep your C/R the same! :wink: Otherwise you will end up with about 1 8:1.1 C/R which would be great for a turbo/supercharger application but not idea for a N/A engine setup!
