Hey all so I just found out my engine is no good. It was a 1967 L6 200ci. I recently bought a 1981 3.3 L6 200ci that is rebuilt with new pistons and Connecting rods. I already ordered parts for my old engine like the fuel pump, water pump, oil pump, harmonic balancer etc. I was wondering if they will fit this new engine. It is the same size just a newer year model, as far as ik the only difference is the bell housing pattern for the transmission. Any information helps thanks!!

Most if not all of that stuff should fit. Others will know better than I. If the rebuilt engine comes with a head, does it have a carb and distributor too? If not, the old distributor may fit but you probably don't want it, and the carb will take some tinkering to fit but you won't want it either. Better alternatives are available. And that block variety is likely to have the starter mounted a little lower than most 200s, part of the different bellhousing pattern. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it could cause some minor issues like exhaust system or header interference.

Yeah I have a large log from a 200ci, and I was looking to buy a new distributor. I just dont know which ones will fit.

did you get to actually 'eyeball' the bellhouse / starter on the engine - any pics ?
.
'81 small block six had both low starter , unique BH 200 and the more typical 'dual drilled' high starter 200 afaih ...

Hi, most of the Ford six engines, and all of the early engines have a "high mount" starter, and a place to mount the ball for the clutch Z bar, and either an early single, or later dual bolt pattern to mount the bell housing Some of the later engines, and all of the 250s have the small block Ford (SBF) bolt pattern, with the starter mounted low, below the oil pan rail. Some do not have the hole for the clutch linkage ball. All the other parts interchange. Your old head will have a smaller combustion chamber, but also a smaller carb openings, 1/12" vs 1 3/4" on later heads, so the carbs won't interchange. Many guys mill the newer heads to get a combustion chamber of @ 53 CC. The later

Hi, that is the SBF style block, What tranny are you running? Good luck
That is 2/3rds of a SBF not a SBF bell block, but they can be modded to fit. 67 flywheel will bolt on but the starter will not bolt any where near the ring gear. There is ways of making things work.

What is your trans. now and future plans.

That's a better head than your original '67. Do you know the casting number on the back half of the intake manifold? Something like D3DE-AA or E0BE-BA. And there should be no problem getting distributors to fit. What are your plans? A modern fancy all electronic distributor? The often unpopular original Load-A-Matic distributor which has to be used with an original style Spark Control Valve carburetor? Or perhaps the later dual advance centrifugal/vacuum distributor? It's not so much the fit as the function that drives the selection. What is your overall vision for this car?

That 81 block is a good find and getting harder to find, I am looking for one myself. What vehicle are you working on? The Ford DSII ignition system is popular and is what I have on my Bronco. wsa111 is a member here and can provide the DSII distributor custom curved for your application and can advise on the balance of parts. I've noticed many are now using the GM module instead of the DSII module as they are smaller, cost less and easy to find from what I understand.

I was disappointed when I couldn't find a home here for one for sale in my neighborhood a couple years ago. It was a nice one, recently rebuilt, and came with a good rebuildable 250 as well, $100 for both. The low-mount starter 200 block would have been a bellhousing and exhaust can of worms for me so I didn't want it. And neither did anyone else. I gave the guy his $100 and stripped off stuff like the heads, distributors, and carburetors before he scrapped the blocks.

That is sad.

Rn I have a C4 but it doesn’t fit so I plan on getting a new bellhousing and a T5.
Some mods will be needed. See if you can contact ''gus91326'' I think he did this mod.
The oil pump should fit fine, not familiar with 67 200 but if you use all of your 67 acc. then the water pump and damper should work as the front of the BB block is the same. The fuel pump will fit fine.

... small block 250 with SBF V8 pattern - 81 200 subtle difference ? - 81 200 looks shorter to block deck than SBF / 250 Bellhouse ?.

.
have fun

Yes the 81 BB block the two top holes are lower than a SBFV8 bellhousing. People have redrilled the top two holes of the SBFV8 bellhousing, then you need the MDL billet small six 157 tooth 10'' or 10something metric clutch flywheel to work . A bracket is needed for clutch cross shaft block ball pivot , there is no boss on the bb block for one.
