i've heard alot about 2-barrel adapters for i-6 engines but not for the 170. is there one or any way to make one work on a 170?
a 170 is an i-6 and they are available from Clifford and Stovebolt and possibly others. Clifford has them for either the larger or smaller bolt pattern and poss. Stovebolt also.

transdapt make one and you can get it through summitracing

IIRC they make one for both botl patterns

i didnt know summit carried them, whats the part number do you have it handy i wanna see if it will allow me just a little more hood clearence.

I don't think you'll get anymore hood clearance with the transdapt adapter. It sits on top of the stock carb spacer as does the stovebolt adapter. The Clifford adapter is the only one I know of that mounts directly on the log.

hood clearance ?

little explain to my setup

its a solex carb dual 40 M/M ore same carb from weber ore dellorto . same bolt pattern en they are in differend size 40/40 48/48 50/50 . funny thing is the gas linkage is bolt wright onto it !!! they dont need a return fuel line. and i did not yet ad a air filter ,because i did orderd 1 and when taken the pic i did not recieve it yet .

the adapter is home made stainles steel . but got it now cast in alu , with some smaller roundings , so more clearance to the shock tower.

there are adjustible yet screws for these carbs . no hasseling arround with replacing yets , adjustible from the outside !!

with the intake . its a realy bolt on to the head and great performance ! no hood problems and the gas linkage is also a bolt on !
only problem is the choke , but i didnt figure this out because i dont need a shocke ! i got msd6a with mallory coil and dura ll . never needing a choke with this setup.

responding and pulling is great , great sound with no air cleaner ........... and gas milage is also good when driving normal .

woow thats smaller then cliffords adaptor or it appears to be however the bolt patterns appear to be different i have to measure my intake. should give me better hood clearence and i will be able to run a better air cleaner

Think of doing this (the custom carb adaptor) as a dual system running two of these custom units/carbs. Based on its design, you could run the carbs over to the driver's side. It would be a great visual impact.
