2 new cars.....cool

I've been looking for a new project, two of them fell into my lap, got one in the bag and am close on the second.

Number 1. 63 Falcon 4dr, 170/3 spd. Bad headgasket, bad tranny, clean rust free body, 100% complete except for some funky Fairmont bucket seats. 200$ cash.

This car belonged to some friends and has been sitting behind thier house for a couple years, the bad news is that it is in Arkansas and I'm in Virginia until Spring 04. At least it will be there when I get home. My cousin is towing it home for me this weekend.

My plans are a n/a high compression 200. This car is "toy status" only. I'm going for 200ci/200hp. Maybe Ak will come out of retirement and help me out. I don't care how streetable it is, 1320 feet at a time is all I plan on running it.

Number 2. 64 Galaxie 500 XL. 352, AT, PS, AC. Nice car for a driver. I'm offering 5k, he is getting weak, the poor economy is on my side!

That FE block changed the rules. In the early to mid 60's nothing could touch it on the track. So what do you do?

I have the FT (Ford Truck - same block design, thicker main webs) in my 66' Camper Special and the FE 360 in the 71' F100. Cool engine but the parts cost an arm and a leg.

At least the FE blocks, unlike the 335 (Cleveland, Modifieds )351C/M and maybee 400's, don't split bores when reved.

My friend Evan has a 66 Galaxie 390 in his LandRover/Landcruier 80-series hybrid, and it revs long and strong. Way to hard to fit 'em in a Falcon unless you get an Alston chassis or something. Shame.

But the six idea is The Plan!

Just a word about 351 Cs splitting blocks. I was speaking with a friend a couple of days ago who tells me that you can get what is called a black block in Australia for a 351 Cleveland that is thicker and doesnt split. I think he said it came out in some of the Fairlanes. he says this is not that well known.
Just thought Id throw it out there and see if anyone heard of them.
